Entry Level Trailer Service Technician / Part-Time

Big Trailer Rentals is now accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Trailer Service Technician. 

SUMMARY
The Entry Level Trailer Service Technician is responsible for basic cosmetic maintenance of enclosed and flatbed trailers, including but not limited to: washing, cleaning, painting, replacing screws, attaching anchors, and cosmetic quality checks.  This position has the potential to train and advance to a Level I Trailer Service Technician.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meets daily with management to review tasks for the day.
  • Minor cosmetic repairs and maintains flat-bed and cargo trailers to include: pressure washing, painting, basic upkeep.
  • Assist technicians
  • Other duties may be assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a high level of motivation, be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, and pay attention to detail.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year verifiable equipment maintenance related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in equipment maintenance and repair.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong work ethic and a desire to succeed
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail and highly organized

  • A valid driver’s license issued in state of California

Trailer Service Technician

SUMMARY
The Trailer Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance procedures and minor repairs on flat-bed and cargo trailers with little or no supervision. Such procedures and repairs include: welding, brake repair, electrical system repair, minor body repairs, and tire & wheel mounting and repair, and inspections to maintain compliance with the standards set by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meets daily with sales personnel to discuss filling upcoming orders, equipment returns and any equipment repair
  • Oversees receiving responsibilities, including storing and retrieving inventory
  • Repairs and maintains flat-bed and cargo trailers to include tire mount / dismount / flat repair / pressure checks, trailer inspections / pressure washing / painting / replacement of winch batteries.
  • Performs mechanical work consisting of maintenance and repair of axles and bearings
  • Performs minor electrical work such as tracing and troubleshooting brake and lighting issues
  • Custom fabricates and modifies tire mounts, couplers, trailer frame, hinges and other trailer parts
  • Reports inventory levels
  • Works in a safe manner
  • Other duties may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
